As our City slowly opens back up, it is a great time to get outside and explore a trail, ride a bike, or walk your dog. San Francisco has a variety of outdoor destinations for you to get your dose of nature. Here are a few of our favorites, but remember to maintain a safe social distance, wear a mask and be safe.

Alamo Square, 1.1 miles from NEMA. At Alamo Square, you’ll find a full range of activities, from walking trails to tennis courts and a playground. There’s a dedicated dog park, but the entire area is canine-friendly, so you can go ahead and bring your puppy to play. Catch a glimpse of the row houses, the Painted Ladies while you’re there.

Baker Beach, 4.9 miles from NEMA. Gaze in wonder towards the Bridge and Marin Headlands from outside the Golden Gate at mile-long Baker Beach. It's nestled at the foot of rugged cliffs on the Presidio's western shore.

Bernal Heights Park, 2.6 miles from NEMA. Trees, benches, picnic tables, rocky terrain, dirt trails, and green spaces round out some of the physical features of Bernal Heights Park. Enjoy fresh air at Bernal Heights, a pleasant park that offers plenty of space to roam, an extensive playground and a beautiful backdrop to take a lot of Instagram pictures.

China Beach, 5.2 miles from NEMA. China Beach is in a tiny cove tucked between Lands End and Baker Beach in the Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco. This sheltered pocket of sand features a picnic area, sunbathing, good play spots for children, and spectacular views of the Marin Headlands and Golden Gate.

Crissy Field, 3.6 miles from NEMA. This restored tidal marsh is a vibrant environmental showcase, bordered by a popular promenade, expansive meadows, and a renowned education center.

Golden Gate Park, 4 miles from NEMA. Within just one massive space, Golden Gate Park features playgrounds, lakes, museums and even a Japanese Tea Garden. Trails and open spaces remain open. Athletic fields are currently open.

Helen Diller Playgrounds at Civic Center, 0.3 miles from NEMA. The Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds offer one of San Francisco’s most unique playscape experiences. The playgrounds were inspired by the city’s foggy climate and feature a “cloud forest,” climbing features and a dynamic lighting feature.

Jefferson Square Park, 0.7 miles from NEMA. This grassy 5.6-acre park features an off-leash area where dog owners can release their hounds.

Mission Dolores Park, 1.6 miles from NEMA. Pack a picnic and head to Dolores Park where you’ll find festivals, performances, and other cultural events. On sunny afternoons it is an ideal place to lounge, picnic, walk a dog, and enjoy spectacular views of the city’s skyline and beyond.

Ocean Beach, 5.3 miles from NEMA. This 3.5-mile stretch of white beach sits on the westernmost border of San Francisco, adjacent to Golden Gate Park. Great for strolling and flying kites, but the water is frigid and the currents hazardous for all but the most experienced surfers.

Patricia’s Green, 0.4 miles from NEMA. The long, narrow park consists of two open lawns interspersed with circular plazas. One plaza contains a children's play area, while the others offer open space, benches, and rotating public art.

SOMA Skate Park and Dog Park, 0.6 miles from NEMA. Graffiti decorates this popular skate park beneath a freeway overpass known for its diverse terrain.

Salesforce Park, 1.6 miles from NEMA. This 5.4-acre rooftop park is located above the Salesforce Transit Center in the heart of SoMa. Visitors will be welcomed with 200+ species of plants that make this living roof so lush.

Washington Square, 2 miles from NEMA. Located in the center of North Beach, an historic Italian neighborhood north of Market Street, the park was established in 1847, making it one of the city's oldest parks. On any given sunny day, you'll find people in the community laying around, having a picnic with friends.

Yerba Buena Gardens, 1.2 miles away from NEMA. Pedal down to play, grab a bite from Samovar Tea Lounge or just relax amid landscaped lawns, serene waterfalls and colorful gardens at the cultural heart of San Francisco. The Gardens’ open spaces are available to you to enjoy fresh air and sunshine.

Make sure to visit each website or social channels for the most up to date information on facilities, events, and feature closures.
