The nearby Heart of the City Farmers Market is a uniquely independent, farmer-operated, nonprofit farmers market in San Francisco's United Nations Plaza. The market has been open since 1981, running year-round on Sundays and Wednesdays – and is now open on Fridays!

Visitors will be able to buy fresh produce and flowers from Heart of the City Farmers Market vendors, purchase prepared food for lunch, and in addition to the regular lineup of local farmers, the Friday market will also offer a new feature — a craft bazaar.

The bazaar will feature retailers and vendors curated by online craft marketplace SF Etsy, payment platform Square, and the UN Plaza Gift Gallery. Hoodline reported SF Etsy, which partnered with Civic Center Commons last year to host first Sunday shopping events, was excited to get a chance to come back for the new Friday market, said Rebecca Saylor, who helped curate the SF Etsy vendors.

Hoodline reported that some vendors will likely be staples, such as letterpress card and stationary maker Leah Jachimowicz, while others will rotate. Shoppers can expect to find a wide variety of crafts, including glass art, eco-friendly jewelry, and screenprints. A regularly updated Pinterest board will feature the line-up of each week’s participating vendors.

The new vendors will sell their wares alongside the UN Plaza Gift Gallery, which already operates a craft market every Thursday and Friday. The Friends of the Public Library will also be selling used books on the first Friday of each month. Other features include DIY arts activities, free outdoor games and picnic seating. The market is located at San Francisco's United Nations Plaza, along Market Street between 7th and 8th Streets above Civic Center BART Station.

“This is a great place to spend an afternoon shopping for organic fruits and veggies. Lots of cool vendors. It is very spacious. Bring your recycle bags and get some farm to table goodies. There are also food trucks and an area to play corn hole.” – Juan, Yelp
