Life at NEMA puts you in the center of it all. Summer in the City brings the live tattooing, cocktails 101, SF and unforgettable Symphony performances to the neighborhood and beyond. Here are a few of the many must attend events to get on your social calendar this month:

July 4, Fourth of July Celebration. Watch as the City sets off 10,000 fireworks for 20 minutes from barges near Aquatic Park and Pier 39.

July 5-6, Jazz with the Symphony. Hear vocalists perform works by Aretha Franklin and Nat King Cole during A Tribute To Aretha, Nat King Cole at Davies Symphony Hall.

July 6, SF Boba Fest. 10+ vendors selling infinite combinations of boba-filled excellence.

July 7, Edwin Outwater at Stern Grove. The San Francisco Symphony (SFS) returns for its annual summer performance at Stern Grove Festival.

July 9, Brit Floyd. This is a new state-of-the-art laser and light show featuring the music of Pink Floyd at The Warfield.

July 11, Brahms v. Radiohead. Conductor Steve Hackman leads the SF Symphony in a daring hybrid of one of classical music’s most romantic composers and the inimitable electronic/rock group Radiohead.

July 11, 13, Schwabacher Summer Concert. Some of the most exciting moments in opera come to life as Merola’s young artists perform staged scenes at the SF Opera.

July 13, Live Tattooing at the Asian Art Museum. Spend the afternoon watching tattoo artists as they inscribe original designs on live models using electric and hand-engraving techniques.

July 18, Building the Building. Opening reception of Building the Building, with honors and celebrates the work of artists and leaders that have made SOMArts what it is today.

July 19, Uncorked: SF Wine Festival. Taste 100 wines as well as artisanal food vendors and live music in the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason.

July 20-21, Leslie Odom, Jr. In his first performance with the SF Symphony, Odom, Jr. takes center stage in a must-see display of his phenomenal voice.

July 20-21, Orchid Show. See orchids on display and buy plants and supplies from vendors in the San Francisco County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park.

July 21, Ice Cream Sunday! Enjoy over 50 melt-worthy flavors — coned, cupped, rolled, scooped, swirled, and topped with everything under the sun!

July 25, Jackie Ryan at SFJAZZ. JazzTimes magazine calls Jackie Ryan “one of the most outstanding vocalists of her generation,” and it’s difficult to disagree.

July 28, The San Francisco Marathon. Begins on the Embarcadero, goes across the Golden Gate Bridge, and winds around the entire city.

July 30, Cocktails 101 : The Art of Mixology. In this hands-on class they will cover the history and the evolution of the cocktail, and all the basics for their preparation.

Thru August 18, Stern Grove Festival. Stern Grove Festival's free concerts will run every Sunday.

Thru October 6, Concerts in the park. Golden Gate Park Band plays a variety of music (classical, marches, opera, swing, and show tunes) at Spreckels Temple of Music in Golden Gate Park.

Thru October 27, Yerba Buena Gardens Festival. Hear music concerts and watch dance performances outdoors.
