Hello, sweet November. Life at NEMA puts you in the center of it all. This month the City brings marathons, dancing, holiday markets, tree lighting and more to the neighborhood and beyond. Here are a few of the many events to get on your social calendar this month:

November 2, SACHI Annual Event 2019. Jhaveri’s lecture will be followed by a discussion with Marc Mayer, assistant curator of contemporary art at the Asian Art Museum.

November 3, Dance Party & Street Fair @ Civic Center. Street festival with yoga, a silent disco trash cleanup, dancing, live DJs, interactive art experiences & more.

November 3, Golden Gate Half. This marathon includes scenic views as you run from Aquatic Park across the Golden Gate Bridge. The 5K goes to Crissy Field Marsh and back.

November 6-January 20, Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square. Lace up your skates and join us at The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Alaska Airlines!

November 8, Día de Los Muertos: City of Souls Closing. The SOMArts’ Día de Los Muertos exhibition is one of the most internationally diverse Day of the Dead celebrations in the United States.

November 9, Wonder Women of SF: Civic Center walking tour. A walking tour to honor the many women who have contributed to San Francisco's legacy.

November 9 , CABFEST; Cabernet Wine Festival. San Francisco’s premiere community festival celebrating Cabernet Sauvignon, our Grand Tasting will be held at the Westfield Under the Dome.

November 10, Daymé Arocena. Head to SFJAZZ and take in a magical mash-up of The Queen of Latin Music, Cecil Cruz, and The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.

Thru November 14, Pop-Up Interactive Dance. For 12 weeks, LINES Dance Center is hosting free, 30-minute pop-up interactive dance performances in UN Plaza every Thursday at 1 pm.

November 15-30, Hansel and Gretel. Join the SF Opera on a rollicking journey through the magic of a classic Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale, brought to life with Engelbert Humperdinck’s folkloric score.

November 22-23, Holiday Artisan Market. Get all of your holiday shopping done early at the Asian Art Holiday Artisan Market, a free event featuring one-of-a-kind handmade goods by local makers.

November 23-December 22, Great Dickens Christmas Fair. Offering holiday shops, seven stages of entertainment, costumed carolers, pubs, and tearooms built to look like old England at the Cow Palace.

November 24, Fall Chocolate Salon. Taste fine artisan and gourmet chocolates and confections in the San Francisco County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park.

November 27-January 2, St. Francis Holiday Display. Stop by the lobby of the Westin St. Francis to admire the holiday castles with circular towers, surrounded by holiday sugar cakes.

November 29, Union Square Tree Lighting. Join the tree lighting with singers, a chorus, a gospel choir, and visits from Snoopy and Santa. The tree is lit at approximately 6:50 p.m.

November 30-January 1, Gingerbread House. Made of thousands of homemade gingerbread bricks and tons of icing and candy in the lobby of the Fairmont San Francisco hotel.
