NEMA San Francisco is positioned at the intersection of SOMA, Civic Center, Hayes Valley, and The Mission neighborhoods—each offering a unique appeal and distinct character. February in the neighborhood and beyond brings a variety of live entertainment. Here are a few of the many must attend events that are up next this month near NEMA:

February 1-5, Year of the Rabbit on Parade. Rabbit statues will be publicly displayed around San Francisco to help ring in the new year. The Rabbit statues spotlight local artists as well as reflect upon the culture, people, and traditions surrounding Chinese New Year.

February 2, Opening Reception for Art With Elders. Join the SFAC Galleries and exhibition for a public reception celebrating the opening of The Power of Creativity and Community at City Hall.

February 2, Bar Agricole Pays Tribute to St. George Spirits 40th Anniversary. Celebrate the 40th anniversary of St. George Spirits with Lance Winters at Bar Agricole. Rare bottles. All you can learn, drink and eat.

February 3, Miss Chinatown Pageant & Coronation Ball. Beautiful, talented and bright young women come to San Francisco during Chinese New Year to compete for scholarships and prizes.

February 4, Chinese New Year Grand Parade. The San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade, celebrating the Year of the Rabbit, will be at 5:15 PM, stepping off at Second and Market Streets.

February 4, Pet Portraits Day. In celebration of the Joan Brown retrospective, SFMOMA is partnering with the San Francisco SPCA to bring you Pet Portraits Day, an exciting live art extravaganza.

February 4-5, Community Street Fair. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of San Francisco’s exhilarating Chinatown during one of the community’s most exciting times of the year.

February 4 & 11, Heesoo Kwon and Kazumi Chin | Leymusoom Collective Workshops. This winter at the San Francisco Arts Commission Main Galleries.

February 5, SF Symphony’s Lunar New Year: Year of the Rabbit Concert. Conductor Earl Lee leads the SF Symphony in concert to celebrate Lunar New Year: Year of the Rabbit.

February 11, The Worlds of Bernice Bing. An exploration of Bernice Bing’s art, life, and enduring legacy, with some of the Bay Area’s most accomplished Asian American women at the Asian Art Museum.

February 14, Goat My Valentine Fashion Show. The popular 5th annual GMV comes to Union Square for a GOAT Fashion Show this Valentine’s Day 2023 from 4-6pm in the heart of San Francisco.

February 15, Origami Workshop with Dana Fong. Learn step-by-step how to make fun, intricate origami. In this workshop, we will use origami paper and imagination to create a fun art piece.

February 23, Canadian Brass Side-by-Side Concert. With an international reputation as one of the most popular brass ensembles today, SFCM welcomes Opus 3 Artist Canadian Brass.

Now-March. Entwined. One of San Francisco’s most celebrated (and popular) public light installations, Entwined, will light up Golden Gate Park through March.

Zumba in Civic Center, Wednesday & Friday-Sunday. Zumba instructor Matt Ziegler leads classes in Civic Center Plaza (weather permitting) on Wednesdays and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with SF Rec & Parks Zumba in the Parks. The class is for all ages and skill levels; meet on the paved portion of the plaza adjacent to City Hall. See the schedule here.
