NEMA San Francisco is positioned at the intersection of SOMA, Civic Center, Hayes Valley, and The Mission neighborhoods—each offering a unique appeal and distinct character. March in the neighborhood and beyond brings a variety of live entertainment. Here are a few of the many must attend events that are up next this month near NEMA:

March 1-12. Entwined. One of San Francisco’s most celebrated (and popular) public light installations, Entwined, will light up Golden Gate Park.

March 1-19, SIX at the Orpheum Theatre. A modern spin on the history of Henry VIII’s six wives, SIX “remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a Euphoric Celebration of 21st century girl power”.

March 1-31, Skate San FranDISCO. Let’s roll! Whether you are new to roller skating or a skating pro, the rink offers a fun skating atmosphere for everyone. The rink is located at Fulton Plaza through March 31.

March 1, Artisan Hamantash Bake. Young Jewish Professionals, come together, enjoy fine Kosher wine, delicacies and learn to bake 'Hamantash' (Oznei Haman) with toppings / fillings of your choice.

March 1, HEY BYE Mahjong Society SF. Enjoy an intimate and exclusive event in Hayes Valley where you'll learn how to play mahjong with Andrew Chau, co-founder of Boba Guys.

March 3 - April 29, SFAC: Crossing Lines/Lineas que Cruzamos. Crossing Lines/Lineas que Cruzamos features works about immigration from two women artists: Georgina Reskala and Arleene Correa Valencia.

March 4, Night of Ideas 2023. The annual Night of Ideas is back at the Main Branch of the San Francisco Public Library, where keynote speakers and performers will focus on the theme of “More?"

March 5, Asian Art Museum Free First Sundays. The Asian Art Museum offers free admission on the first Sunday of the month.

March 5. Buffet + Brunch Variety Show @ Jolene's. You can order drinks at the bar or download the "Smarttab" App ahead of time to place your drink orders upon arrival.

March 6, Lady Gaga Dance Class. Join an all levels Lady Gaga dance class for 7 weeks and you'll get a chance to perform in costume for your friends at a nightclub.

March 7, Saving Time: Discovering a Life Beyond the Clock. An evening at SFJAZZ on long-term thinking with a talk, reading from Jenny Odell and conversation with Long Now's Executive Director Alexander Rose.

March 10, Indian Drummer Nishaant Singh. A rare opportunity to hear a contemporary master player of the pakhawaj, a drum associated with some of India’s most ancient classical music at the Asian Art Museum.

March 11, Annual San Francisco St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Civic Center Plaza Celebration returns!

March 11, Holi: Festival Of Colors. Play with Holi colors, dance to a foot tapping DJ and munch on Indian street food. Stunning rooftop views.

March 11, Sunshine People at Monarch Gardens. Sunshine People welcomes you to another day of music and fun at the all new outdoor venue: Monarch Gardens.

March 18, First Annual D&B Coffee Party. Stop by and taste some coffee outside to celebrate Dollar and Bean's first birthday.

March 20, American Whiskey: The true flavor of America. This tasting is set up so you could learn about your own preferences in whiskey; it’s age, strength, mash bill and flavor profile. Sip, discuss and learn.

March 25, Red Baraat: Festival of Colors. For this special night at the SFJAZZ, the band presents Festival of Colors, celebrating the Hindu holiday of Holi.

March 25, Lips & Lashes Drag Brunch. The show features a rotating cast with a range of talents from drag illusionists, burlesque, live vocalists, dancers, and more.

March 28, Queer & Well Yoga with Ki: A Chakra Series. Chakras are energy centers within the body that correspond with different colors, regions, and parts of the body.

Thursdays in March, Bollywood Fitness Class BollyX. BollyX, a free Bollywood-inspired fitness class, pops up in Civic Center Plaza every Thursday, 11am-noon.

Zumba in Civic Center. Zumba instructor Matt Ziegler leads classes in Civic Center Plaza (weather permitting) with SF Rec & Parks Zumba in the Parks. The class is for all ages and skill levels; meet on the paved portion of the plaza adjacent to City Hall. See the schedule here.
