July in the neighborhood and beyond brings a variety of live entertainment. Here are a few of the many must attend events that are up next this month near NEMA:

July 1, Madame Butterfly. Karah Son brings her renowned portrayal of Cio-Cio-San to San Francisco Opera for the first time, alongside Michael Fabiano as Pinkerton.

July 1-2, Fillmore Jazz Festival 2023. The largest free jazz festival on the West Coast, The Fillmore Jazz Festival, returns to San Francisco.

July 2, Mozart to Mendelssohn Concert. The San Francisco Civic Music Association presents the Mozart to Mendelssohn summer concert, "Paganiniana".

July 4, Above It All: The Fourth Of July Celebration. Be 'Above It All' at Charmaine's - the ultimate rooftop experience with unparalleled views of these beautiful spacious skies.

July 5-23, Les Misérables at the Orpheum Theatre. The Cameron Mackintosh production has been called “Les Mis for the 21st Century."

July 6, Thursday Night Ecstatic Dance. Thursday Nights are Now every 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the Month.

July 7, Nākaloka at The Center SF. Nākaloka is a meditative concert with world flutes, sacred chants and movement.

July 7, The Friday Roll Out. Fridays are always a great time to go roller skating.

July 7, Castro Art Walk. The Castro Art Walk is back as a regular monthly event, every first Friday of the month.

July 8, Bollywood Meets Bhangra. Bollywood Meets Bhangra in SF Ft. DJ Switch & Live Dholi Kev.

July 8, Union Square in Bloom Summer Music Series. Every Saturday through mid-October from 1pm - 4pm, and beginning in August, every 3rd Thursday, from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Union Square Plaza will come alive with the sounds of talented local artists, celebrating the rich musical heritage of this iconic city.

July 9, DAYBREAKER SF // The Golden Soirée. The first ever dance at the Asian Art Museum! Come dressed as the goddess/god that you are, either sprinkled in gold, or covered in it from head-to-toe.

July 13, A Very Ferry Birthday Party. The Ferry Building is celebrating this 125th anniversary with a community day, free and open to the public.

July 13-August 20, SFJAZZ Summer Sessions 2023. July through August, a six-week concert series celebrating musical traditions across the Americas.

July 14, Bhangra and Beats Night Market. A free night market series in downtown SF featuring music, dance, food, drinks, shopping, and more!

July 14, Queer Vibes: Season 3. Queer Vibes is The SF LGBT's Center Arts & Culture live concert series that serves as a platform to showcase local LGBTQ+ artists.

July 14 & 15, Water.Bodies.Land. Join a celebratory performance at San Francisco's SOMArts Cultural Center in the city's vibrant SOMA neighborhood.

July 16, Foodwise Summer Bash. Celebrate 30 years of farmers markets and community at the freshest party of the season!

July 19, La Cocina Drop-In Market. Join other aspiring food entrepreneurs and have space to sample your product, and connect with small business resources, future customers, and other entrepreneurs.

July 20, Queer Bedtime Stories. This is the bedtime stories reboot you've dreamed of: all the stories are queer.

July 22, Brave New Voices Day 3. The Brave New Voices National Youth Poetry Festival is back in person for the first time since 2019 at the War Memorial Veterans Building.

July 26, Node Mulch Exhibition. An exciting new initiative that brings together the Bay Area’s scientific and art communities.

July 27, Holiday Wine Festival. Featuring an all-star lineup of Northern California wineries, paired with scrumptious hors d'oeuvres from chef Chad of Classic Culinaire.

Thru August 5, Sanibonani. Group Exhibition with Zanele Muholi, Collen Mfazwe, Sipho Nuse, Lulu Mhlana, Mellisa Mbambo and Nkosi Ngiphile at the Jonathan Carver Art Gallery.

Thru August 20, Stern Grove Festival. This free outdoor concert series has happened since 1938. The festival is on Sunday afternoons at 2 pm.

Trivia Night at The Beer Hall, Every Thursday test your trivia on historical facts, current events, sports and more at The Beer Hall's Trivia Night, 7-9pm.

Sundays and Wednesdays, Heart of the City Farmers Market. A well loved Farmers Market happening in UN Plaza since 1981.

Zumba in Civic Center. Zumba instructor Matt Ziegler leads classes in Civic Center Plaza (weather permitting) with SF Rec & Parks Zumba in the Parks. The class is for all ages and skill levels; meet on the paved portion of the plaza adjacent to City Hall. See the schedule here.
