We love the dynamic, local foodie scene which recently added a popular venue in the form of a brick and mortar location for popular, Detroit-style pizza. Square Pie Guys is serving it up in SoMa.
New to Detroit-style? From Square Pie Guys' website: Detroit Style is the perfect pan pizza. Baked in pans originally used to carry automotive parts (hence the “Detroit” connection.) Our Pizza has a crunchy bottom, fluffy middle, and crispy cheesy edge.
The popular venue recently caught the eye of SF Eater, who did a great write-up regarding the new, permanent location in SoMa. I don't know Detroit style pizza, but I do know what tastes yummy to me. Got a vegan cheesed Plant Squares pizza and that was good! Great non-Daiya vegan cheese, crispy crust, and the right amount of veggie toppings. Had fries on the side (which are so crispy and not greasy) and can be rushed to you if you tell them how hungry you are. They seem to have a great drink selection and are staffed with very friendly people. Overall, a menu that caters to all tastes and levels of hungriness (carnivores will delight in the wings and pepperoni). – Yumi N
This is absolutely exquisite! They've taken Detroit style pizza and, along with the traditional offerings, have added some uniquely San Francisco flare. We had the El Pugalista and a vegan version of the mushroom pizza. Both were amazing. And we had leftovers! Good beer selection too! – Jon A.
This is probably the best pizza I have ever eaten. I had the mushroom pizza and the crust was crunchy and really enhanced the pizza. I didn't have to add any toppings. The restaurant has a hipster ambiance and I lived the free sparkling water. – Abdulaziz B.
